David Pollak sent us a nice Scala news roundup, which will certainly be of interest to many of you.
He writes: Lots of Scala buzz is happening around the web...
- Alex Payne, API master at Twitter, presented Scala at the C4 conference. You can read posts from Alex and others about learning Scala at Graceless Failures.
- 24 people from the SAP ecosystem collaborated to build ESME: the Enterprise Social Messaging Experiment on Scala and Lift. David Pollak and Jen Robinson launched ESME at SAP TechEd's DemoJam in front of 3,000 developers. ESME is a Google Code project.
- David Pollak also gave a hands-on presentation in how to build a wiki with Lift and a lightening presentation of a chat application at the Rich Internet Application Hacker Night, and gave a presentation on using Functional Programming (Scala and Lift) to build Buy a Feature at the Bay Area Functional Programming group.
- The Bay Area Scala Enthusiasts met on Sept 9th at the GooglePlex. David Hall presented on using Scala inside of the Hadoop Map-Reduce environment.
- Tony Morris gave a presentation on Scala to the Queensland Java Users Group.
