DSLs in Scala: Internal and External
Michael Nygard - Agile technology leader and dynamicist
We're no longer working in a single language. Programming today is about both consuming and creating languages. In this session, Michael will present a real domain with familiar problems.
Programming Scala
Venkat Subramaniam - Founder of Agile Developer, Inc.
Scala is a static fully object-oriented, functional language on the JVM. While taking advantage of the functional aspects, you can continue to make full use of the powerful JVM and Java libraries.
Scala Tricks
Venkat Subramaniam - Founder of Agile Developer, Inc.
Scala is a very powerful hybrid functional pure object oriented language on the JVM. In this presentation Venkat will look at some common tasks you do everyday in developing applications and see how they manifest in Scala.
Scala for Java Programmers
Venkat Subramaniam - Founder of Agile Developer, Inc.
Scala is a very powerful, statically typed, hybrid functional, pure OO language. The strengths of Scala is in its expressiveness, support for XML, powerful pattern matching, and elegant solution to concurrency. In this workshop, you will deep dive into understanding the strengths of Scala from a very practical point of view.
Tackling Concurrency on the JVM
Venkat Subramaniam - Founder of Agile Developer, Inc.
In this presentation we will take a quick walk though the issues with concurrency and how the solutions provided in Scala and Clojure help address them.
The Busy Java Developer's Guide to Scala: Basics
Ted Neward - Enterprise, Virtual Machine and Language Wonk
A basic tour of Scala - functional features, such as algebraic data types, immutable objects by default, pattern matching, closures, anonymous functions, currying, and more.
The Busy Java Developer's Guide to Scala: Patterns
Ted Neward - Enterprise, Virtual Machine and Language Wonk
A tour of Scala with a focus on patterns - functional features, such as algebraic data types, immutable objects by default, pattern matching, closures, anonymous functions, currying, and more.
