So you will see releases of both 2.8.x and 2.9.x made on the website.

Mostly.
Lot of software shops are quite conservative with regard to language upgrades.
My company jumped directly from Java 1.4 to 1.6! (we don't do Scala)

It has impact on sources (with Java we rarely have regressions, but it is not impossible),
you might have to recompile everything (not a major problem, we do that everyday, but can
be an issue with 3rd party libraries), you have to ask your customers to upgrade too, and
so on.

Well, I saw no real question, so I gave no real answer...
(And sometime I don't resist to a little joke, even if I understand people can struggle
with foreign language: I was (and still is) one of them.)
