Scala Event in Germany?
Wed, 2011-12-21, 18:17
Hi everyone,
I'm thinking about trying to get my company to sponsor a scala event in Frankfurt, Germany in 2012.
I'm thinking maybe May or June time-frame, although open to suggestions.
My thought is to model it on the always awesome conferences put on by Skills Matters in London (and they've offered to collaborate with us).
If you might be interested would you please send me a note with your preferred time-frame and language preference (German, English, or both ok?)
Thanks!

RE: Scala Event in Germany?
Hi,
very good idea. It should be probably May to avoid holiday
season. One to three colleagues of my company would join. I will try to
figure out whether sponsoring is possible.
Cheers,
Volker.
PS We don't care about the language
spoken.

I'm interested.
I would prefer it in English.

Re: Scala Event in Germany?
Highly interested as well!
Would appreciate an international (hence english-speaking) flavor.

Re: Scala Event in Germany?
I'm interested.
I prefer talks in the language in which the speaker is more fluent in. I have seen too much talks already in which the speaker struggled with the language.
How many days are you planning for the event?
Thanks,
Simon

Re: Scala Event in Germany?
Hi,
sounds great. Would be really interested. And I agree with Simon that
also non (fluent) English speakers should be able to give talks. But
generally English is great to motivate some international speakers.

Re: Re: Scala Event in Germany?
count me in. Language doesn't matter. I'd prefer early May.

Re: Scala Event in Germany?
Hey Paul,
sounds great. We are based in Cologne and would be happy to come over.
There is the OFFF in Barcelona 17-19 May. I think it does not affect most people on this list. But if there is a chance to have the two of them not clash it would be really nice.
Best,
Joa

Re: Re: Scala Event in Germany?
I'm also interested. Why does everything has to be in Frankfurt :) No, I understand, just joking (a bit).
In April there is Scala Days in London, so I'm not sure if May is a good time, though…

Re: Scala Event in Germany?
Preferred language: what the speaker is most comfortable with (should be
mainly English, though)
Time frame: May sounds good.
Also, I'd kindly ask to consider a student's discount which made it
possible for some of us to buy tickets for Scala Days next year.
Anyway, your initiative is greatly appreciated.
