Nomination for IQ Prize
Thu, 2009-03-26, 10:26
Mensa Germany awards an IQ prize every year, and here is the list of this
years nominees:
http://www.mensa.de/index.php?id=157 (in German)
#26 is Prof. Martin Odersky :-)
I know that it is quite unlikely that he wins (other people on the list are
much more present in the media, e.g. TV hosts or comedians), but I'll keep
my fingers crossed.
Cheers

I guess in this context IQ stands for "Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit" or
"traditional Inuit knowledge" (see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inuit_Qaujimajatuqangit )
And who would disagree that designing Scala is like walking on thin ice?

Re: Nomination for IQ Prize
hmmm... hape kerkeling and angela merkel are there as well... i just
came back from latin america, you know "mensa" means simple-minded in
spanish, they must have overseen that ;-) my favourite anecdote with
angela merkel is back in the days when she was helmut kohl's
arselicker in the ministery for "reactorsecurity": when the news
reported that radioactive contamination came out of the castor
containers during their transport, she stated "well you know, when
i'm baking a cake, there is also always some flour spilling on the
floor". she is certainly worth the IQ price...
(anyway, good luck to martin!)
cheers, -sciss-

The originators put P.M. Magazin on the list, so you are probably
in a better shape than they are.

I absolutely agree. I already said if Merkel or von der Leyen (another
politician with fundamentalist Christian tendencies) wins, I'm in the wrong
club and leave...
