Actors in Scala
Hi Folks,
At JavaOne the book “Actors in Scala” was announced at the “Actor-Based Concurrency in Scala” talk. Does anyone know when the book will be released? I can’t find anything else on it. Will there be an iterative electronic draft pre-release like there was for “Programming in Scala?” I found that very useful.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Actors in Scala
Hi Mark,
There will indeed be a PrePrint for Actors in Scala, and that should
be out very soon. Our plan is to get it out in August.
Thanks.

Re: Actors in Scala
Oh, it will be published by Artima? Good to know. You did a great job with PiS.

Something I learned in academia: there are three kinds of academic reviews: review by name, review by reference and review by value.

Re: Actors in Scala
Hi Mark,
Yes, Actors in Scala is an Artima book, by Frank Sommers and Philipp
Haller. Thanks also for the kind words about our first book, though
for probably obvious reasons, we prefer the acronym PinS!

Ah, well, I'll leave you with the immortal words of the Rolling Stones: you can't always get what you want. ;-)

Re: [scala-user] Actors in Scala
Along wth Daniel, I just want to say that if the Actors book is anywhere near as good as PinS, we’re all going to be happy.
