New contributors active in Trac
Tue, 2009-10-27, 17:51
Hi all,
I noticed that we have new contributors active in Trac. Great to see
more people involved.
I also noticed that some issues have been closed without an explanation
(with resolutions of wontfix and fixed). In at least one case, the
reporter reopened because the issue does not seem to be fixed.
I wasn't the reporter on any of them, but if I were, I would be hoping
for a short message explaining why. In the case of "fixed", it's useful
to know what revision was tested with if the actual commit is not known.
I think this is nice to people who take the time to report issues and it
seems to me like it's the approach usually taken by the regulars. Maybe
it's worth letting new contributors know when they join?
Best,
Ismael

Fervent agreement here. I spend half my life doing "ticket archaeology"
and few things are more frustrating than tickets being closed silently.
There should always be a revision given if the fix revision is known; if
it isn't that should be explained; in most cases there should be a test
case checked in or the ticket should not be closed; and no ticket should
ever be closed "wontfix" without some explanation unless the reporter is
a nut job or something.
