Folks,
I'm writing Beginning Scala for APress. It should be out by JavaOne.
Thanks,
David

How would you compare "Beginning Scala" with "Programming in Scala?"
Beginning Scala will be about 1/3 the size and be more oriented toward the Java (and to a lesser degree Ruby) developer who is curious about Scala.
My over-all goal with the book is to help people understand the value of transformative, state-minimize programming and how those concepts can be expressed in a concise manner.
Or, as I told Bill Venners last night, I hope Beginning Scala is the gateway drug to Programming in Scala.

Sounds good.
Can we expect you to post a notice if APress decides to offer
pre-publication PDF releases and (another) when the final release is
made?
