springy scala

I'm looking to implement a spring 3 type converter (http://static.springsource.org/spring/docs/3.0.x/spring-framework-reference/html/validation.html#core-convert) that uses scala 2.8's JavaConversions (http://www.scala-lang.org/archives/downloads/distrib/files/nightly/docs/library/scala/collection/JavaConversions$.html)

To avoid any wasteful wheel re-inventing... has anybody tackled this already?  If not, I'll stick something up on github once done.
