updated in Scala on debian-unstable or Ubuntu PPA
Sat, 2011-04-30, 17:31
Hi all,
I was a little disappointed to see my new Natty installation still has Scala 2.7.7.
Proposed solution:Official EPFL Ubuntu PPAs for (1) latest stable release (2) latest snapshot, (3) and nightly builds.
Is there any interest in this? I'm willing to to do some of this work. The most recent PPA I have seen is not up to date.
Yuvi

+1, although I think Ubuntu should just do their work. FYI:

Re: updated in Scala on debian-unstable or Ubuntu PPA
I think Scala should be distributed as .deb and .rpm, possibly with
Apt and Yum repositories. I'm not sure how to handle the Java
dependency in a general way, but doing something for any one
particular distribution is not the way I'd go.
This much doesn't really impose much. It does require a bit of
knowledge -- a couple of days or more from someone not familiar with
how to do this stuff -- but once done, it could be automated even to
the extent of producing nighties.

Re: updated in Scala on debian-unstable or Ubuntu PPA
I like this idea too. I'd possibly be willing to help work on it too.
