Actors in Scala

Hi Bastian,

Good question. Recently Philipp suggested we put a chapter in about
Akka actors. I don't know the details of where actors are heading yet,
so I'm not sure which direction the book should take just yet. We want
to get it out very soon. If need be we can update it later with a
second edition. But if big changes are coming soon, it may be better
to do some major surgery now and delay the book a bit longer. Everyone
who has bought it can continue to download updated PDFs as we publish
them, and anyone who is getting tired of waiting can ask for a refund.
Sorry it has taken so long, but ultimately my goal is to cover Scala
actors in this book in whatever form they eventually take.

I personally think the Artima model of releasing pre-print pdfs is a great
way to go. It gives the devs what they need and the authors can take time
to get it right. It'd be great if Akka actors were included in the 1st
edition and I wouldn't mind waiting longer for my paper copy. However, I
can understand the desire to get the book published and would also buy a
2nd edition if it covered Akka.

I think you're asking how Akka is going to be merged or combined with
the standard Scala library? Or are you asking about the Actors in
Scala book?
